Self Catering Option

As the credit crunch bites, families who have been accustomed to the luxury all inclusive package holiday will start to look at cheaper and more flexible options to vacation. A self catering holiday provides this flexibility and can work out much cheaper but need a very different mindset to that where all entertainment is laid on and paid for upfront.

Self catering holidays range from the caravan by the sea to the luxury villa with a pool and everything in between. A range of budgets can be accommodated and the flexibility to spend more on location and less on food and excursions can come as a welcome surprise. The main task of course for the new self caterer is providing their own meals. This can be great fun giving an opportunity to discover local produce and farmers co-operatives, wandering around small village shops as well as investigating foreign supermarkets with their myriad range of intriguing brands.

Freedom to choose when and how you eat, with the opportunity to try out local restaurants rather than being limited to a resort range of eateries also adds to the fun. However it is always worth bringing along a stash of salt, pepper, sugar, tea and coffee as well as some washing powder so that it is not necessary to buy large quantities of basics supplies.
